For my words today, as an example of Jesus’ devoting Himself to serve people, I will consider the event of feeding the multitudes in the wilderness (Matthew 14: 14-21). You know. The multitudes followed Jesus for more than one purpose. What happened after a long day is that His disciples suggested that He should send the multitudes away. Was it obvious that He was tired? Did they consider it impossible to feed thousands in the wilderness? Jesus answered His disciples as if, for Him, the day was just starting! He said: “you give them something to eat”. Not only did he insist on the ministry, but also that His disciples should keep in mind that, in the Church, the ministry work cannot be hindered by the people’s weariness or their limited capabilities. Can people do everything? No! But this does not mean that they cannot do anything. “You give them…”, means that I am with you, therefore we can always complete the ministry. When we get tired or when the problems facing us seem impossible to solve, all we have to remember is that Jesus is with us; just this.
