If obedience to the Word bestows a new life upon us, then every exhortation to read it becomes new. This allows me to tell you today also that we, in our Church, did not arrange the fasts to remain without food. During the fast, the Christian finds his sustenance in the Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Bear in mind that there is nothing more valuable to a person than knowing what God has said. Then, make a plan that requires you to place a Holy Bible in your homes, in the very place where you spend time alone. Keep it close at hand. Do not read it haphazardly. If you are unfamiliar with the New Testament, read it first, once, twice, and thrice. After that, turn to the Old Testament. Read it through as well, once, and twice. This is your guide to regular reading. Do not demand of yourselves, in order to read the Book, that you understand everything in it; although understanding is always a goal. Let the Word lead you into its expansive meanings and into the learning it implies, and above all into obedience.
