The Spirit of Our Renewal

Justifying sins is of no help to us in anything, it rather keeps our sins reigning over us. Do you really like to renew yourselves? Always keep in mind that justification cannot be a path to what you love. The path is delineated in Paul's word: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts” (Hebrews 3:7&8). He is speaking about the voice of the Holy Spirit. This is the Maker of the new life on earth. The Spirit, the Spirit of God, never ceases to speak to us. This means that, in all cases, He loves us; it means that, if we despair of ourselves, he does not give up on loving us or despair of calling us. The only enduring thing in Paul’s word is that, in formulating his word, he shows that the Spirit cannot compel us to respond to him. Listen! Give the Spirit your hearing! Hear Him, and obey Him. The renewal of the world needs nothing else.
