I was thinking of the deserted endowments of the Christians; contemplating the exiled Christ! Here, near me, there is an endowment to a monastery where the priest who maintained it, loved the poor. Monks obey! He was removed from his position in the hope that the property of the monastery will be invested for the good of its people. Those of you who know what (or whom) I am talking about, know that, after him, everything became ruins. How sad I am for the exiled "Christ", for the echoing (deserted) endowments of churches! Am I calling the churches to spend on themselves and their ministry from what those who preceded us to heaven had endowed? This is not my intention! Am I saying: hear their voices crying out from their graves: “what we had endowed is for the good of our Church and the poor”? He who gives is commanded to forget (Matthew 6:3). However, is it appropriate for us to forget? Chrysostom used to say that the poor are "the body of Christ." Will the exiled Christ return to the monastery that lies near me?
