The Archbishop of Tiberias Said

I was astounded by the word spoken, days ago, by Metropolitan Alexios, the Archbishop of Tiberias. He said: “As long as there is at least one Christian in the territory of Gaza, I will not go anywhere, because I can be a hope for them, so I will stay in the province that believes in me. If I die, I will have a dignified death as my destiny!”. The truth is always astounding. You followed the news of the massacre caused by the criminal bombing, last Thursday, on the annexes of the Church of St. Porphyrios in the Zaytoun neighborhood in southern Gaza. It was Metropolitan Alexios who presided over the mass funeral service for the brethren whose killing was described as a “war crime” by our Patriarchate in Jerusalem, with whom the war brought us back into communion. The bishops, who commit to their parishes in life and death (2 Corinthians 7:3), exude the scent of Pascha (John 21:15-17)! Nothing but the Truth is expected from bishops. Nevertheless, whenever it is revealed, it is capable of astounding us.
