Do we, Christians, have any meaning if we are ignorant of the fact that the Church is a family? Our reality is well known. It eludes many among us that God’s might has chosen to bow down the heavens to bring us back to His home, as beloved children. What is the root cause of our estrangement from this saving Truth? I have mentioned the highest root cause: it is ignorance. I trust that the matter calls for no examples. However, notice: most of us, of this or that Church, give no weight to the fraternal dimension of commitment. We come into the church as strangers, and we come out as strangers. Flesh prevails over the spirit. People are dying without us knowing, caring, or asking. In “our own seasons”, our joys as well as our sorrows, we do not accept to share Church with anyone else… Is there a cure for this ignorance? When we admit that it is ignorance, we are halfway to our cure. Lord, grant us to see the end of the road!
