Kinship Activity

A few days ago, my son and his family arrived in Beirut from the faraway country which I heard him describe as “intemperate in its four seasons”. On this anticipated visit, I had the honor of getting acquainted, up close, to Naï, my new granddaughter, whom I had known (so far) through her pictures! When we met, we seemed close. I hugged her until she screamed, "enough!" (verbally: until she cried)! If you are abroad, or if you have children and siblings…, you know this painful situation; that of photo relationships and delayed embraces. I have a friend who has spent his life being controlled by “aerophobia”. He got healed by his little granddaughter who lives abroad with her parents. He refused to be content with photo relationships. He started being here and there. It meant a lot to me that some of “our friends”, both young and old, have decided that their activity, these days, would be our visitors who are coming from afar. The best thing in a homeland, which is immensely excessive in dividing and scattering us, are “friends” who insist on presenting it as a country for kinship.
