God’s World

This woman, shown in the picture, praying in front of a shrine separated from my son’s house by a public park, is one of the stories of God’s victories in this cold region. I am writing about her. I am overriding my conviction that prayer is a secret that is not to be disclosed. I present her as a token, first to myself, that no world, no matter how cold, can survive without God. Are you asking: who calls the distant person to a life of obedience? The straightforward answer is: they are those who pray. I am not bypassing the responsibility of the churches which, both in the East and the West, always need someone to shout at them, with the Saints’ candor, that God is the life of the world. Those who pray are an eloquent call from heaven. They tell the old and the young that God deserves that you give Him your life. He is the joy that will never pass away, and the enduring wealth. They say: devote your life to God. Come to the Church. Everything in it is waiting for you, or rather, without you, it has no meaning. This woman reassured my heart. She said to me: “there is no fear for a world in which there is one praying person!”
