Only mouths that have adhered to the Word for life succeed in exposing sins. Among the texts that I have read about the sin of envy, I list two things: envy is when a person enters, with sick hatred, between God and His generosity to people, and then asks that all His blessings upon them be transferred to himself. This means that the envious person is someone who cannot hear Jesus telling the story of “the workers in the vineyard” (Matthew 20:1-16), or listen to what Paul had said about the gifts in the Church (1 Corinthians 12-14), especially his saying: “the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all” (12:7), that is, for the common good. Is there a cure for the envious? Only if he can regain his ability to listen to the words of life, which, alone, grant us to repent rightly!
