A Grateful Greeting!

I have a friend who had emigrated about a month ago. He went in search of bread in a country that does not hide bread from its people. Yesterday, he called me. He told me that a mutual friend took him on Sunday to one of our churches in his new country. After the Liturgy ended, our friend took him to introduce him to the rector. He greeted him. The rector responded to the greeting with apparent haste. He asked him nothing about what he is doing while abroad, about his place of residence, his work... No kidding, I really liked the rector's rush! I did not think that he is lacking pastoral awareness, but rather that, knowingly or unknowingly, he is helping us back home to make our expatriate friends feel that they are truly in exile! I told my friend nothing of what I thought; rather, I prompted him to receive care through prayer. This is a grateful greeting to a hurried rector!
