Your Service

The priests are there to serve. Their faces are a destination for the people, particularly the poor and the oppressed... I do not believe there is a single believer who, if in need of a service, any service, can feel at ease asking for it from anyone as he would from a priest (the priest of his parish). The believer considers the priest to be his father, brother, or a man of God, that he is responsible for helping him, if his request ends with him or if someone else can assist him in it, that he can never fail him or give him a vague response to his need, nor will he shame him for his poverty or weakness or allow him to feel humiliated in his own eyes… This means that the entire parish is involved with the priest in service, serving the poor and the oppressed…, for the sake of the people and their salvation. The priest is the head of his parish, of everyone who belongs to the Church of God, regardless of his position or occupation in the world. He needs no mediation to speak to anyone. For the sake of people, all doors open for him. Pay attention to the priests’ service. This is your own service.
