Writing Partners

My eldest son is showing, nowadays, an explicit interest in the books written by his father. I am not saying that he is seeking closeness in the midst of forlornness. He is always close. A few days ago, he requested that I send them all to him. In the request, I was struck by his insistence that I guide him in the reading. "Write to me what you want me to focus on in each book". Even though his wishes are my commands, I have not obeyed the request. The brethren, who help in translating these lines, know that I do not always answer their requests to clarify to them what I mean by this word or phrase. I often let them choose what meaning they agree on. I think that anyone who gets into a text, as a reader or as a translator…, becomes a partner in it. I am not disconnecting the meaning from the writer’s intention, rather I am leaving it to the care of the Holy Spirit Whose eyes are unique in each of us for the sake of the richness and perfection of the testimony. This is my opinion which I am sending, with my apologies, to my son and to you.
