We Believe and Bear Witness

The highest revelation of the Truth of Pascha is the news of the empty tomb. What Paul said about the many appearances, that is, Jesus showing Himself alive to the apostles and to more than five hundred brethren (1 Corinthians 15:5-8), then what the Gospels said, follows the reality of the tomb from which Jesus came out alive. Is it due to the humility of the Risen One that His Gospel tells about His sufferings in well-known details that it avoids on Pascha? It is a single event which can be approached with nothing but faith. Those of you who have followed the exegetical movements of the New Testament do not miss that the exegetes are certain that the Gospel of Mark was ended by its writer with the news about the empty tomb (16:1-8). What follows this news, that is, telling about the three appearances, is an addition motivated by two things; firstly, to emphasize that the event of the Resurrection is accepted in faith, and then to testify to the living Christ. The feast is this, to believe that Christ, Who has left His tomb empty, has “abolished hell”, and to bear witness to His life in us. Christ is risen!
