Understanding the Word

A young girl, almost twelve years old, asked her mother about something I said in my homily, which was difficult for her to understand. Her mother encouraged her to take up her question and pose it to me. I love questions, from both the old and the young. Most or all of them help me to acquire new illustrations for words I have said or that I know from the legacy of my Church… In my homily, my goal was to call on the worshipping brethren, during this Paschal season that ends tomorrow, to be servants of Pascha by spreading joy and peace, in a country that sleeps on its defeats. I told the girl, in a more simplified manner: “ask yourself to take the initiative to say hello to your friends and your household, and to be with them in joy. This is something of the scent of Pascha". She left me her thanks, and walked out of my sight. This is the most beautiful thing that happens to me, to feel that someone is interested in understanding the Word.
