The Social Solicitude

I was struck by brother Rami Hosni’s article: “The Movement and the Social Solicitude” with which “An-Nour Magazine” opened its last issue. The basis of the article is that its writer saw, in the effort of the Orthodox Youth Movement (MJO) in social service, a faithfulness to the legacy of the great Fathers, and he directed us to strive today, more and more, to keep the faithfulness. He first reminded us of an “old” document of the Movement (On the Commitment to the Affairs of the Earth), from which he derived three causes, caring for which he considered to still be a sacred duty, namely, the Palestinian cause, (the abolition of) the sectarian system and the social change. Then he called us, in our present, to commit to three other causes: the environment, the emigration, alienation and corruption. It struck me in his words about those who journeyed, his exhorting us to sympathize with those who have immigrated to us. He asked that I see my son who is there now, in someone else’s son who is here now. This is an article to be read individually and collectively.
