The Simplicity of Love

When one of my grandchildren visits us, he imposes his program on us. This is what we had experienced before. God gave us three children, two of whom, out of God's generosity, got married, and got children. Caring for a child differs from caring for a grandchild. The grandchild is more capable of overturning most of the rules that we impose on our children in their childhood. For example, for the grandchild, the grandparents' house does not consist of spaces, but rather of a single space, over which he is the king. He goes up and comes down. He goes and comes. He eats and drinks. With one word from him, his toys appear, and spread around. The open house, in his presence, becomes embarrassing to open it to those who are not close. Man is his habits. How can a child trust that he reigns over you and what belongs to you? How can you erase the difference of the years between you? My wife says: “this is the secret of love. Your grandchild gives you to know that you are still capable of loving. It is all that simple”!
