The Secret of Freedom

It is extremely difficult to talk about the freedom of the human being in this contradictory world. I do not want to embarrass myself or embarrass you. You do know that, ecclesiastically, we believe that every human being is, by nature, free. God has created us free, in His own image. However, we all know too that we are living in a world that insists on contradicting itself, that is, on contradicting the nature of its existence. Most of us, though we are free, yet we are not really free! We are sick; insanely contradictory; enslaved to our desires. Is it difficult to restore us? One of the respected brethren used to reiterate to us: “if we are capable of distorting what gift God has given us, logic says that we are capable of obeying Him and fructifying His gifts”. What do those who are confident rely on? They rely on God Who does not abandon His creation. The secret of freedom is a God Who never ceases to insist on bringing us back to our first comeliness.
