“Apply your heart to my knowledge”. With these words, in which the writer of the Book of Proverbs urged his readers to accept the words of the wise (22:17), the Church prompts us one by one to a conscious adherence to the experience of the brethren whom the Spirit of God had raised for Himself, priests and lay people. There is no right life in separation from the brethren, that is, in considering that each of us is capable, alone, to have his heart grow. This is a common view, you know. The writer of the Book of Proverbs said: “apply your heart”. Our acceptance of the elder brethren is an inner conviction, a personal decision, profound and eternal. This means that a perfect life can only be in the care of conscious people whose accompaniment gives us to advance in faith, day by day. This is the scope of the saints.
