The price hike in Lebanon is the rule today. People are talking. Some of them, when they comment on the rise in the price of a commodity in our country, they immediately contrast it to its price abroad, in its country of origin, for example! Forgive me for saying that this is a funny thing, (or let me say it more politely: hard to understand), that we are no longer interested in imitating the world called advanced except with what we know is beyond our means. Let us be realistic. I do not think that anyone cares about our poverty. I am talking about ourselves in the first place. Does our recognition of our poverty condemn us? Does silence about what is happening in our country, that is, this delusion that we are able to live in Lebanon as if we were abroad, make us feel that we are all right? I do not care to turn anyone against anyone. All I hope for is that God may grant you more sympathy for the poor people you know who still consider Lebanon to be a homeland for life.
