I will choose ten characteristics of the Lebanese, which I do not claim to always apply to him or to be restricted to him among the peoples of the earth. 1- If you visit the Lebanese, he feels offended when you decline his hospitality. 2- After God, his dignity counts first. 3- With regard to anything that concerns him, he seeks to “have the best of the best”. 4- He is fanatical (about his ilk and his origin…). 5- He is a showoff; he likes to be seen. 6- He sees that friendship requires him to cover up his friends' shortcomings, and he expects to be treated the same. 7- You greet him after some absence, he returns the greeting with three kisses on both cheeks. You ask him: “who am I?”. He gets a good look at you; he takes his time before answering: “give me one more minute…”. 8- When a fault is mentioned to him, he conjures up some others to whom he sees that the mentioned fault applies. 9- He now has a special question to ask those with whom he seldom meets: “are your children here (in Lebanon)?”. 10- Wherever his life ends, he dies as a Lebanese.
