The Island

Since I was a young lad, I thought it best to watch the motion pictures along with others. I have no trouble connecting the events with one another. My flaw is that, when I sit to watch a movie, I do not stick to it, but I allow other thoughts to capture me! This, if I told you about a movie, makes me offer a collective testimony, my testimony and that of those with whom I have watched it! I would like to invite you, today, to watch the Russian movie: “The Island” (Ostrov) which was directed by Pavel Lungin. This is a great movie which tells, in the style of playing the Fool-for-Christ (Yuródivyy), the story of repentance and constant prayer, the story of God Who remains wondrous in those among whom He rests. This is a movie that is good to watch as individuals and as communities. Watch it. Discuss it. Let Father Anatoly, its protagonist, capture you for around two hours, to his island, to God’s world.
