The Greatest Ministry

What strikes us first in the account of the Myrrh-bearing women (Mark 15:43-16:8) is their determination to go to Jesus' tomb. They knew that there was a great stone at the entrance that would hinder them from reaching their goal. Yet, they pressed onward. This is our lesson. When we seek God in any circumstance, we must allow Him to overcome the obstacles that may stand in our way. The account tells us that the Myrrh-bearing women, when they asked who would roll away the stone for them, "looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away". There was no time lapse between their asking about the stone and its being rolled away. God does not delay in His intervention in order for us to reach Him. He only waits to see us truly desiring Him. I said this is our lesson. What is most eloquent in the lesson is to remember that God wants us to be His. He wants us to serve Him more than we want to serve Him. When the women found that the tomb is empty, the Lord did not leave them without a new commission. An angel in the tomb sent them to bear witness that Christ is risen. This is the greatest ministry.
