The Great Saturday

Historically, this is the day of baptism of catechumens and of reconciliation of those who had repented of sins they had committed; this is the awaited day. Choosing it as a day for baptism and reconciliation is associated with the phronema of the Church who had received that the greatest grace which renews people is for them to be granted to participate in the Love of Jesus which had led Him to “stay in a lowly grave”. This is our unfading day. Moreover, the Church seems, on this day, on the last day before proclaiming to us from the empty tomb that Christ is risen, to be telling us publicly: “You are here, you have reached this Great Saturday, ‏by virtue of the accepted Grace of God. Your day by day journey has been in the Grace. There remains for you, the baptized ones, to examine yourselves thoroughly. Pascha is not really entered into by anyone other than he who keeps his white garments”. Will we allow this Great Week to end while being great in us as well?
