Among the feasts of Theophanies, this is the most evident feast in its indicating that God, as a Trinity, is here now. Look! Follow the evangelical story in its detail. The story says that the heavens parted, and God the Father spoke. He said of Jesus, the Word incarnate, that this is my beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased. The Spirit also descended upon Him like a dove (Mark 1:9-11). This brings us back to the Spirit Who was hovering over the face of the waters at the beginning of creation. The picture is complete. God has broken the silence of the long time by indicating that Jesus is come to restore Man to his first creation. The feast is clear in revealing that if God is manifesting Himself, it is to save forever. The silence is broken, and the time arose for the Word Who came to give us everything, to give us what we have failed to recover by ourselves. The Spirit is here. The Son is here. The Father is here. So, this is the age of the gifts.
