When Paul said: “be free from anxieties” (1 Corinthians 7:32), he wanted us to see that God is with us in all circumstances: in our sorrow and our joy, in our contentedness and our anger, in our pain and our health, in our peace and our anxiety… this is the experience of Pascha to those who have known everything, that is, those who have known that Christ is risen; to those who have heard Him telling His disciples in Galilee: “I am with you”; to those who have seen Him, on the road to Emmaus, bringing back the disappointed ones to know Him alive and life-giving; to those who have ascertained that, before the empty tomb, He had healed Mary Magdalene of her brokenness, by proclaiming that He loves us with a personal love; to those whose ears have rumbled with the shout of Thomas, upon seeing the print of the nails: “my Lord and my God”…; to those with whom the promise of the “fiftieth day” was also fulfilled. The disciples, nowadays, have no nobler task than to proclaim to those who are overwhelmed with anxieties… that Christ is risen!
