This is the greatest story of Pascha in the Gospel of Luke (24:13-35). We know one of the two disciples, Cleopas. The other disciple is likely to have been the Evangelist Luke himself. The story begins on the road. Two disciples returning from Jerusalem to a faraway village were having a conversation about their disappointment. All that they were expecting from Jesus fell to pieces with His death. A stranger appears to them, revealing the true ending of the story. Every human being is subject to disappointments. The issue is here: who will let Jesus end for him the stories of his disappointments? I do not like to outsmart anyone. However, I hope that the brethren, whose relationship with God and His Church is confined to the feasts, will see that Jesus still wants to walk with us on a path that resembles the journey to Pascha, a path that is all Word and Bread. Finally, Luke tells that the two disciples returned to the bosom of the congregation bearing witness to the Resurrection. This is the homeland of the true disciples. As a feast, Pascha always opens, for us, a new covenant.
