A friend of mine told me that he had read a statistical study about the countries to which some of their emigrants return. He said that Lebanon is one of them. There are Lebanese people who do not leave their country until the end. When I heard him, I did not ask him for any details about the study, about its history for instance... I let his words enchant me with joy. Yesterday, I recalled the piece of news. I tried to find reasons that keep Lebanon in mind, as a country, in the diaspora. I mentioned: the family ties, for example. My son told me once: “Lebanon does not concern me. I will return to you, if I do return”. In addition to the family, two other reasons can keep the emigrant’s eyes fixed on his country: namely, preserving the language and the church commitment. The responsibility for these two lies with the person himself and with his church. I believe that if a person is separated from his language or his church, he will not maintain a strong connection with his country. Thus, churches that do not lay the foundation for their ministry in the diasporas on keeping the eyes of people to their homelands, do not strengthen their ties to the Mother Church. Life is a connection!
