The Concern of Believers

When the Apostle Paul concluded an opinion that he gave in an urgent Church matter by saying: “and I think I also have the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 7:40), he ruled that there is no freedom of opinion without openness to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is the concern of the believers to veil themselves in the faith which has been delivered, wholly, to them (Jude 3). I will give you a contemporary example about what I am saying. Once, I heard Metropolitan George Khodr say: “In the church I am a reiterating person” (that is, I have no opinion other than that of the Word). On another day, we were on the balcony of his house, a tear welled up in his eyes at the mention of what Father Virgil Gheorghiu said about his priest father: "my father is the horse of Christ". I asked him about the saying. He replied: "we are the porters of God"! You do know that Metropolitan George, who has lived his life veiling himself behind the Tradition of his Church, has filled the pulpits with his regenerating words, and has exhausted the white papers! May this holy hiddenness endure!
