The Canon of the Word

I know a girl who, in her youth, was zealous for the life of our Church and her people. I have heard her, more than once, saying that there are songs that are suitable for us to raise in prayer to God. The girl was not a professional vocalist. Her voice was average, as was her musical culture. However, she had mastered love, eternal love! I know Paul's command about "spiritual songs" (Ephesians 5:19). Besides, I know our canons for which this commandment was the ink. The girl did not mean to break the canon of the Word. What she did was that she subjected to it the language of the world, in poetry and in music. By mentioning this girl, I do not want you to consider that anything on this earth can equal the songs of your Church. All I wanted to say publicly is that there are brethren among us who cannot get enough of singing the praises of God.
