The Blind Man from Birth

I am a parable of the person who lives by the grace of God (John 9: 1-38). Who knew about me? I am nonexistent. My kinsfolk and my neighbors did not deny me; rather, they revealed my truth. I am a person born today. Neither my mother nor my father nor anyone else recognizes me. Today, Jesus has recreated me with some mud, with a word and water. I understand those who have denied me. Like them, I do not acknowledge myself before today. Even you, look at yourselves; who among you knew about me before today? Simply put, this is my entire story. Those who opposed me after seeing me regain my sight, that is, after I was reborn, wanted me to be nonexistent. I do not know why they hate that I exist now! They asked me about myself and about what had happened to me. My answer was always to recount what Jesus had done for me. I told my story to them repeatedly. This is the language I know. My past has fallen away. My old language has fallen away. My healing has become my identity and my story. This is me. I am a Man whom Jesus has raised to a new life. This is "my Lord and my God." This is my Mother and Father.
