The Advice of the Saints

The world is an expanse of gossip, a place for slander, for belittling and backbiting others. Do you know what the scourge of the chatterbox is? His scourge lies not only in his spreading rumors about the things that he deems ugly, but also in his belief that this world cannot be restored. Insanity is no different from this belief. This puts an end to the whole idea of striving in Christianity. It puts an end to the fact that I am a human being who is saved by the accepted grace, that is, by the synergy of God’s grace and my will. This is the sin against grace, to despair of Man’s salvation or to resign from serving his salvation. This is the sin of the idle person who refuses to do good; the sin of one who seeks to eliminate the people (about whom we gossip) from the eyes of others. Notice the sins that this sin brings together. What do you do if you meet a chatterbox? "Pretend you're in a hurry, and go in peace". This is the advice of the saints.
