Straight Talk

I am laying aside the pandemic, and tracking the diseases it is leaving behind in our homes. For over a year, people have been living in a closed world. Early in the lockdown in Lebanon, I had called you as well as myself, in hasty lines, to benefit from our staying together in our homes. I told you what is said about this being an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with each other, as couples, brethren, parents and children. It is rumored today, here and there, that there are people among us who have done nothing, in this suffocating period, other than ruining their relationships with each other. Fighting and beating… This language, the language of assault, is what suffocates me more than anything else. Before my eldest son traveled, I had some time alone with his two children, and told them: “do not hit each other. Do not hit anyone. Moreover, allow no one to hit you. Hitting is not a human language”. The talk is straight!
