Two days ago, I was appalled by a shooting that took place at dawn after an oral dispute, screaming and cursing, in a store (…) in Lebanon. A man was injured; I hope he is safe. I do not know any of the people I saw in a video that was published by a media outlet. So, I am not talking about specific people, but rather about us in this sick society. I intentionally did not adopt expressions you are familiar with. “A loose society”. “Uncontrolled weapons”. “States within a state” … There is no state, rather we are sick people languishing in a place that we have turned, fifty years ago, into a jungle. It can be said that the shooter was prompted by unbearable anger to use his weapon. I am not justifying him. I weep for him as well. However, had we, in Lebanon, raised our education to the point that we are “people of one household”, we would not have reached this rock bottom. I will relay to you the piece of news again. The day before yesterday, a brother angered his brother, so the angry one fired a few bullets at his brother from a weapon he was holding. This is what really happened. O my sorrow and my mother’s sorrow for my two brothers!
