Shireen’s Story

I followed up some of what was said about the martyr Shireen Abu Akleh by writers, journalists and poets…, and I was enthralled by what the Lebanese singer Moeen Shreif sang for her. Let us agree! In evil, Israel is no stupid country. It knows that its most powerful enemy in the world is the free word, the bold word that exposes its racism, hatred and madness. Did Shireen Abu Akleh have to die treacherously? Two thousand years ago, the forefathers of her killers said of Jesus that He was able, with His word, to destroy their nation. I am saying nothing today about the stones of children that are terrifying their usurped being. I am saying one thing. There were soldiers who saw, in a woman who carried nothing but a word, a resemblance to Him Whom their forefathers considered a threat to their nation, and they deliberately killed her. This is Shireen's story, in a nutshell. My prayers are for her to inherit glory in heaven, and for us, that the love of the Word may grow strong in us, as a legacy!
