I will share with you a piece of news that made me feel ashamed. One of the priests of a sister church told me: “after the Sunday Liturgy, a brother who frequents the Church at times, from a Sunday to another, came into the altar. I was taking off my vestments. Without introduction, he started blaming me for words I said in my homily. He accused me of publicly repeating the words of someone who had exposed a fault of his son to me. Then he cast a look at me from top to bottom, and shamed me for a defect which was marked on my body by illness”. O what news! O my shame! Are we really members of the household of God? I know that this news is not to be generalized. In its details, this is rare. However, what we can often see among us is that, in order to ward off the reforming word, we can say anything except that God wants us to be purer. Shameful, really!
