Serving Beauty

Joe Kareh, the beloved journalist, in footage he published about one of the snowy landscapes in the mountains of Lebanon, led the camera accompanying him so that we can join him in seeing the massacre of rubbish left behind by people who had visited the place over the weekend. He said firmly: "Honestly, with people like this, we will not be able to build a country!" This is righteous anger for the sake of our awareness. Do the Lebanese, all or most of them, want to be better, that is, to truly create together a "country of citizenship"? Joe Kareh believes we can. The rebuke of a flaw, if it comes from a loving person, is for the sake of participating in acknowledging that the flaw is indeed a flaw and for repenting from it. Kareh did not literally say that our greatest problem, in more than one respect, lies in the lack of awareness. But he said something akin to this. He said: "We are a people far removed from civilization, from ethics, and from cleanliness". We all sing the praises of our country and that it is the epitome of beauty. There remains for us all to learn that beauty has to be served!
