Repenting Sinners

My friend Elias Baz told me that the brethren in “The Renewal in the Holy Spirit Movement” do not bring a brother to a leadership position before the community leaders meet with him, and discuss with him about what they see as new and as old in him. This piece of news reveals two major things; firstly, that the mindful community does not consider itself too great to point out any old Man in it; as for the second, it proclaims that the fraternal life is the homeland of the pursuit of the best. Every human being falls under the gaze of heaven and earth. However, there is a huge difference between your seeing, for example, a flaw in your brother and spending your life ruminating on it in secret and in public, and being frank with him about it, with the humility of him who knows that you are together under God’s judgment. I also like to think that behind this frankness lies an acknowledgement that any leader who thinks he is perfect, does not lead the people to God, but rather to his own estrangement. The whole militant Church, from the oldest to the youngest, is a community of “repenting sinners”, to establish peace and mercy. Truth is preserved by those who are close.
