Tomorrow, in a final prayer, the Church of Rome will bid farewell to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, after he spent a long life giving to God what He had given to him in his heart and his mind. If it were possible to say a few words about this great Bishop, I do not see anything more appropriate than that he knew, in his theological stances, when to be a strict Catholic and when to be bold. Am I saying that his stepping down from the papacy is due to his subtlety in boldness? I do not know anyone who said the full final word about this stepping down. Is it old age and its labors as he said? Or is it internal problems in his Church that pushed him to take this rare step in its history, as is said...? Yet, I know that the man, in his time, represented to his Church, and to those who love God everywhere, that Man belongs to God alone. Pope Benedict is gone to God in Whose “mighty power of mercy” he had full trust. He has gone to place in His “faithful hands” what he had achieved and what he had wanted to achieve.
