I got used to hear, from time to time, this endearing question: "Who helps you choose the titles you write?". To this I have repeatedly answered: "you", that is, Man himself, the near and the far. The writer who is far from people does not write for them. Today, I would not be changing my answer if I also confidently said: “life, with its constant and predictable details and coincidences, is a generous source for committed writing, for writing essays and other things”; a scene on the road; a note-worthy word, an unforeseen event, something related to the insight of the Church or to the ministry… I will not be dwelling on “the moments of inspiration”, above which the inspired Dostoevsky elevated the effort he put in writing, if I exalted coincidences or said that they had often saved me from forgetting things I missed. What remains, from my answer today, are books, that is, reading in general. Books are, like Man, a suitable source for writing.
