A friend of mine, who lives abroad, called me and talked to me about a job that had been offered to him in an institution owned by a Jewish family. I encouraged him to decline the offer. The meaning of what I told him was that we cannot contribute to the wealth of people who, if they do not kill us with their own hands, are today supporting our killers in a land they had usurped and in the South of our country… He said: “let me think”. This was before the aggression against Gaza. Yesterday, he called me again. He told me that he did not accept the job, and thanked me for having encouraged him to refuse it. He literally said: “What is happening in Gaza increases your conviction that it is a crime to remain neutral in the face of any criminal hostility. You must support the truth, participating, wherever you are, with the people of Gaza in this existential battle"! His answer shocked me. It reminded me of Metropolitan George Khodr’s response to the person who asked him if he would like to visit the places that were blessed by the feet of Jesus. He told him: “I cannot put up with having an Israeli policeman handle my passport”. This is the partnership of the great people.
