New Land

The land here is vast and wide. Life is a journey. A few days ago, my son advised us that we will be spending the weekend in Ottawa, the capital of the country. The trip from his house takes two hours by car. I told him to postpone it because of a pain in my back. He declined my words, and promised to watch over my comfort. We set off on Saturday. He found us a rest stop on the way. Then we continued our day in the “Village of Upper Canada”, which seems to be the crown of villages. In the morning, we went to the Liturgy in Saint Elias Church. I was delighted with the Fathers Ghattas Hajal and Nektarios Najjar. Father Peter Shportun and the Deacons Yakoub Daoura and Jason Khoury participated with us in the Liturgy. Also present there, were the two Fathers Andrew Anderson as well as Aphram Al-Hajj who came from Latakia to attend his son’s wedding. After the Liturgy, I met in the hall with brethren from our country who had become part of the city! Here, the cities remind you that your country is bleeding! We went to lunch with friends with whom we had an appointment. The faces of friends are always a journey to a new land!
