Love For All

My grandson James, the horseman in the picture, loves animals of any kind. He knows most of their names. He learned to imitate their sounds before he learned to utter a word. Where did he get this love from? Whatever answer we give to this question, that is, if we say, for example: “from the homes of his relatives or of his parents’ friends”…, our answer will not be entirely satisfactory if we do not mention beforehand that this boy was born knowing nothing but sympathy. His ability is immense for harmony, amazement, and joy, and for conveying joy, and even for showing his unrivalled love for all of God's creation. Am I saying that the animals, if he approaches them, feel spontaneously his affection towards them? I trust that. Yesterday, we were walking together in our neighborhood. A cat ran towards him, apparently knowing his inclination for it! I hope that God protects him from anything that keeps him away from his nature. Without affectionate people, the world would disappear.
