He who is incapable of having mercy on others, whose guilt has been confirmed to him, cannot be aware of what he means by saying: “Lord, have mercy”. To ask for mercy for ourselves, is something that presupposes that we seek to be healed of this reprehensible disability. You know the saying: “whoever has, to him more will be given” (Matthew 13:12).
