Guidance of the Faithful

I will speak to you without preamble. Some individuals in positions of influence over the lives of the faithful, both within our Church and elsewhere, hold peculiar or even bizarre beliefs! I will expose their stance on chastity, for example. I have heard rumors about certain priests (more than one of whom is from our own Church) that they cozy up to worldly ideologies. For them, chastity, for instance, does not clash with "gratifying oneself"! The statement is explicit! Anyone among you who is familiar with the teachings of our church, whether in asceticism or ethics, can sense the folly of these circulating words. I would not be objecting to the practice of guidance within our church or elsewhere if I said that it is unacceptable to trivialize the "position" by using it for our own whims. When guiding the faithful in matters deemed indisputable, there should be no personal opinion whatsoever! Am I judging those who see themselves reflected in these words? What I am saying is that there is no greater perversion than to make our opinion equal the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints!
