Oh Jesus, I have read about the events of this great day in Your great Gospel. You were aware of everything that would happen to You; indeed in both Your silence and Your words, You were saying that You only "came for this hour". You ordered the preparation of the Last Supper. You rejected Judas' betrayal and entrusted Yourself to Your disciples. You did not just unite Yourself with them, but You also desired them to emulate Your love for them and Your humility before them. How can one be like You? You are the teacher. With love? Teach us to love. Without You, there is no love. With humility? Teach us to be humble. Without Your gifts, there is no humility, no virtue, nothing. With service? Teach us. Teach us everything. When You dwell with Your “body and blood” in us, do not leave us lifeless, but move us to see You in every human being in whom You want us to love You... This is the only cause in the universe worth living and dying for. He who gives his life like You do is the only one worth our living for.
