God’s Work

Today, Metropolitan Silouan Moussi hosted, in the beautiful village of “Al-Qusaybeh”, the meeting of the brethren members of the Orthodox Youth Movement in Mount Lebanon (MJO) on the feast of their local chapter. The meeting began with the Divine Liturgy, during which the beloved brother Tony Abdo was ordained a deacon. The brethren in the Mount know that when they had decided, decades ago, to set this feast on the first of May, Labor Day, they were not drawn to it only because it was a holiday; rather, they also wanted to require of themselves to grow in the remembrance that the most honorable thing on earth for a person is to work in the field of the Lord. Jesus once said: “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working” (John 5:17). What is God’s work which He never stops? To bring Man back to living with Him. The Movement has existed solely for serving this work. The feast was a joy for those who celebrated it and a renewal of the covenant that they were only (there) to participate in God’s work (2 Corinthians 6:1).
