When our tradition says that God loves the world, it means He loves all people at all times and in all conditions, without discriminating between one person and another, whether sinful or righteous. This is an essential aspect of the God portrayed in our Scriptures as: love (1 John 4:8), meaning a steadfast love that remains unchanged. I said that He loves both the sinner and the righteous. I mean that He loves us all, those among us who seek His approval or who care nothing about it. This is something evident that can be known by young and old. Who among us knows anyone like God Who does not shut His door on anyone, anyone at all? Who in the world has the capacity for such love? What I would like to say today, first to myself and then to those of you who like, is this different God not worthy of our getting Him into our hearts, with His shoes on? A God Who loves us irrespective of circumstances, a God Who is not ashamed of our flaws but accepts us always, no one but Him can forge a new covenant for us. The bedrock of repentance is a God Who loves us.
