I was directed by a gathering of regeneration young people to reread the book by Brother Costi Bendaly, "Fasting and Orality: The Psychological, Spiritual, and Pastoral Aspects of Orthodox Fasting," published by the "An-Nour Orthodox Cooperative" in 2020. Those among you who have perused works by Brother Costi are not in need of anyone to tell them that, in Antioch, he is the creative scholar who has called forth the world’s lively thought and has put it, with objective skill, at the service of our advancement, as individuals and communities, both in the Church and society. This is due to the faithfulness to Orthodoxy, which compels humankind with its sound principles to cast its gaze, from a lofty vantage point, to the wisdom God has disseminated in the world, seeking the common good. I am not saying that Bendaly merely transmitted what the world has offered us, but that his full contribution was to clothe the sobriety of thought in the world with the attire of a unified Antiochian parlance, leaving it for us and the world for the sake of a desired unity. I advise you to read the book.
