My intention was to propose to him to dedicate his life to serving the Church. The Church lacks servants in both the diaconate and priesthood, as well as in other ministries. I do not need to embolden myself to talk to him; the young man is a dear brother. Moreover, his talents are evident. He did not wait for me to tell him to go to a seminary, but went ahead of me saying that he has decided to leave the country for a job waiting for him abroad. Did I misjudge him? What I see is that our collapse in this country has led many of us to seek solutions elsewhere. The confusion in the region is increasingly impacting our ecclesiastical reality. The young people, who once have had responsibilities in the Church yesterday and the day before, have left a void behind them when they left us to go abroad. I was candid with the young man about what I had in mind. The Church who, like her Master, accepts being wounded, does not allow us to wound anyone. In this life, we all get strengthened if we learn that, in our lives, the Church comes before our lives.
