Barbie

Last Monday, my two eldest grandchildren asked to go to the movies with their aunt the night before she was to return to her university in France. My granddaughter suggested they watch the Barbie movie, which is being shown in cinemas here in Quebec. Her mother refused. It struck me that, in her refusal, she relied on a controversy taking place about the film in Lebanon (and in other countries). She was objective. She said to her daughter: "let us watch it together". How does a mother, in a far country, live to the rhythm of what is happening in her own country? I had not heard of the film. This conversation moved me to watch it. The ideas it promotes are obvious; namely, the person who does not know who he is, who is looking for meaning, who has given himself the right to decide his gender... The synopsis of the film is "Ken is a She", and Barbie stands at the end of it, asking to see her gynecologist. The ideas are to be evaluated. Peace lies in the critical mind. The bottom line of my observation is that time is much more precious than watching it!
